Man Utd manager gives striker a life line

Sunday, July 22, 2012- Manchester United boss, Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted that Portuguese striker Bebe will be given a chance to prove himself in Old Trafford after he failed to live up to his billing in his first season with the club.
The Portuguese forward was a shock signing for Sir Alex two years ago but failed to establish himself in his maiden term before an injury prone loan spell at Turkish club Besiktas last season.
However, after grabbing a late equalizer against Ajax Cape Town in a pre-season match, Sir Alex admits Bebe could be given a chance at Manchester United.

“We’ll see how the season progresses for him, but it gives me a headache in terms of number of strikers we have there. That’s not a bad thing, though.......

“He had his loan at Besiktas and then picked up the bad injury which kept him out for most of the season.

“That is probably his first game for about eight months, so he will be pleased to be back playing and pleased he scored a goal.”
Bebe's equaliser came in stoppage time to deny the South African side a shock victory and despite nearly losing, the Scot was happy with his side's display..
“They nearly beat us.” Sir Alex continued. “It was a very competitive game, Ajax pressed the ball very well and gave us a lot of uneasy moments on the counter attack.
“It was good to get some more game time and no injuries, which is another blessing, so we are very pleased with the game.”
