£30M BRAZIL STAR LUCAS MOURA 'EXCITED' OVER POTENTIAL MANCHESTER UNITED MOVE

RAFAEL DA SILVA has revealed that Brazil team-mate Lucas Moura is “excited” at the prospect of joining him at Manchester United.
Old Trafford boss Sir Alex Ferguson is making a big push in the transfer market with Sao Paulo’s Lucas a £30million target.

Fergie also has not given up hope of beating Manchester City to Arsenal’s wantaway striker Robin van Persie and continues to eye Everton left-back Leighton Baines.

And Rafael told the Daily Star Sunday: “Yes, I have told Lucas he should come to Manchester United – of course.”

And when asked whether winger Lucas, 19, was excited about coming to United, Rafael replied: “Yes, yes!”

Lucas who can also operate in the centre of midfield, gave an exciting 22-minute cameo performance as a substitute in the Brazilian Olympic team’s 2-0 win against Team GB at Middlesbrough on

Friday night.
United have had one bid rejected and are poised to try again after the Olympics.

Fergie, who has already committed,,,,,,,,
£23m to the signings of Shinji Kagawa and Nick Powell, has also been encouraged by City’s failure so far to clinch the signing of Van Persie.

The Daily Star Sunday can reveal that City are not as confident of landing the double Footballer of the Year as they were three weeks ago.

City need to sell before they buy to achieve their goal of satisfying UEFA’s Financial Fair Play rules.

But as Van Persie is 29 next month, United’s top brass are reluctant to pay more than £15m for his services.

New Italian champions Juventus are also in the race for Van Persie.

Rafael, meanwhile, revealed his Olympic Games ambition by saying: “We have never won Olympic

Games gold, so we are taking this so seriously and we are going to try so hard to win it.

“We have seen Argentina pick up their gold medals in the past and we want that feeling.

“In Brazil, we have won the World Cup and nearly every competition – but never this one.

I wasn’t in the original provisional squad of 22 but then there were injuries to a few players
“I have been given my chance and I think that I played quite well against Team GB.

“I had to ask Sir Alex’s permission – always! But he was happy for me to come.

“After the Olympics, I will go straight back to United and be available for the start of the season.
“This is my preparation for that.

“It will be a different season for me with my brother Fabio being away on loan at Queens Park Rangers.

“We have always been together until now but maybe it will be good.

“We will obviously still speak a lot when he is playing for QPR and see what happens.

“But I hope we will play together again at Man United.”
