Sky Sports have reported Sao Paolo director Marco Aurelio Cunha as confirming that a substantial offer for playmaker Lucas Moura has been turned down.
Talking to TMW, he said: ”Manchester United made a very important offer of €35million but they would need to produce a little more.
“For us there is only Neymar worth more, after him is Lucas and we would not want to sell for less than this sort of value.
“For us it is still better to have a good player than lots of money in the bank.”
€35 million? For a 19-year-old player? This is highly unlike anything we have seen in recent years but it is a promising sign that cash is in the kitty for a new signing.
Manchester United are yet to confirm or deny the offer.
